A quick-hitting storm Saturday night brought down tree limbs and did some property damage in Cowley County.

In Winfield, city officials reported that just over 1,000 utility customers were without power for a time following the storms. Crews worked to restore service and just a dozen or so remained without power by Sunday morning.

Isolated tree limbs were reported down in the community, the city of Winfield said through social media. Those with limbs to dispose of can do so at the city compost center, 320 Broad St. Regular hours are noon to 6 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays and Saturdays 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Parks dept. crews planned to do most park cleanup work Tuesday, except for limbs needing immediate attention. In Winfield, due to the isolated nature of the downed limbs, the city did not plan a city-wide limb pick up. (Story continues below>>>)

At least one home was damaged by tree debris, city officials said.

In Ark City, winds damaged a sign at Pizza Ranch on Summit and limbs fell on various vehicles. Some property damage was reported.

Beginning early Tuesday morning, the city of Arkansas City will have crews circulating to collect fallen limbs from local neighborhoods. They ask that you follow these guidelines for pickup.

Stack Tree Limbs at the Curb: Please gather and stack tree limbs at the curb for collection.

Keep Stacks Clear of Obstructions: Ensure tree limb stacks are not placed near mailboxes or water meters.

Avoid Parking Near Stacks: Do not park vehicles in front of the tree limb stacks, as crews will need clear access.

Please note that only tree limbs should be placed in the stacks. No other materials will be collected.

Cloud rotation and high winds were in numerous places in Cowley County. Tornado sirens were sounded as a precaution.
