The public is invited to attend a groundbreaking ceremony Friday night on the campus of Southwestern College in Winfield to begin the construction of the Bruce DeHaven Football Complex in the coming weeks.

According to a news release Monday morning from SC, the ceremony will be at 8 p.m. at the north end of Beta Rho Mu field in Richard L. Jantz Stadium.

The groundbreaking event will take place after the Southwestern College spring football game.

The facility will include training space, team meeting and film rooms, study hall, locker room, conference room, coaching offices, a laundry room, and equipment storage space.

“We are thrilled to be dedicating a new facility in honor of Coach DeHaven, a member of the Southwestern Class of 1970 and highly accomplished special teams coach in the NFL,” Southwestern College Athletic Director and Men’s Basketball Head Coach Matt O’Brien said. “The DeHaven Football Complex will not only create much-needed training space, but also provide our student-athletes and staff with a top-notch environment to learn and work in together.

“Friday will be a proud day for Builder Nation.”
