The SCK Health Foundation raised over $75,000 at its March 2 annual gala in Ark City.
According to a press release from Foundation Director Pam Crain Tuesday, nearly 200 were in attendance at the Burford Theatre on South Summit.
“The funds raised at the Gala will make a tangible difference in our community by ensuring and enhancing access to the vital healthcare services provided by SCK Health,” Crain said.
The gala’s live auction featured 15 items, including a Kansas City Chiefs football signed by Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, presented by SCK Health CEO Leonard Hernandez.
“Thanks to a generous matching donation from LG Pike Construction, all auction proceeds up to $10,000 were doubled,” the press release stated.
Carlla Pike was recognized as the foundation’s inaugural recipient of the SCKHF Healthcare Advocate Award — an honor the foundation said “aimed at recognizing those who have made exemplary contributions to rural healthcare in Cowley County.”
SCK Health Emergency Room staff were also honored.
That staff, along with Ark City first responders, were recently recognized by from Children’s Mercy Hospital of Kansas City for their efforts in saving the life of a local teen.
“Additionally, the selfless gesture of a patient who donated in appreciation of outstanding care during a knee surgery underscored the profound impact of healthcare professionals in the SCK Health Operating Room,” the press release added.
According to the foundation, the gala was underwritten by RCB Bank as presenting sponsor and Dan Jurkovich/Edward Jones Investments as supporting sponsor. The evening featured steaks from Creekstone Beef and live music by Larry Newsome during the cocktail hour and dinner.
