Multiple injuries were reported Wednesday morning when a semi collided with a Sumner County road and bridge truck roughly five miles west of Wellington.
Just after 9 a.m., emergency crews were called to U.S. 160 Highway and S. Anson Rd. for the report of an accident. The Kansas Highway Patrol investigated.
51-year-old Brian S. Lemasters, Milan, was westbound on 160 in a 2005 Ford F-350 and attempted to make a left turn onto S. Anson Road, according to the patrol report. The vehicle was approached from behind by a westbound 2001 Peterbilt semi tractor driven by 34-year-old Larry A. Short, Childress, Texas.
Short attempted to pass the county truck on the left when a collision occurred. The county vehicle was pulling an asphalt crack sealer trailer, which detached from the truck and remained in the roadway.
Following the crash, the county truck rolled and came to a rest on its top in the southwest ditch of U.S. 160. The semi truck came to a stop in the eastbound lane.
Lemasters and a passenger, 24-year-old Avery S. Rademacher, Wellington, were both hospitalized for treatment of injuries. Both have since been released.
Short was taken to a hospital for evaluation.
