An Ark City man was arrested last week for stealing shoes from a local retailer.

According to the Ark City Police Department on Friday, a report was taken on Dec. 5 from Shoe Sensation, 2139 N. Summit St., of an unknown male taking a pair of men’s shoes without paying for them.

Officers obtained surveillance video of the suspect inside the store, and on Dec. 26, the video was shared with other ACPD officers, who identified the suspect as 23-year-old Dylan David.

Footage was also viewed from an officer’s body-worn camera of David when he was arrested on another case on Dec. 17. Upon officers viewing the video, it showed David wearing the same shoes reported as stolen from Shoe Sensation.

Officers then contacted the Cowley County Jail to get pictures of the shoes David was wearing when booked into the jail. Officers identified David’s shoes when booked into the jail as the shoes from Shoe Sensations.

An ACPD officer then went to the Cowley County Jail and interviewed David, who admitted to stealing the shoes from Shoes Sensation and that they were the shoes he wore when he was arrested on Dec. 17.

The additional charge of theft was added to David’s booking charges, which also included a probation violation. As of the ACPD’s report on Friday, David is currently being held in the Cowley County Jail.
