Trump does well in Cowley County; Alley, Roth win easily; AC library question fails

President-elect Donald Trump did well on ballots in Cowley County Tuesday night.

The Trump-J.D. Vance ticket received 9,102 votes locally, compared to 3,791 for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris and her running mate Tim Walz.

Overall, voter turnout was near 64 percent. At the start of election day, turnout was around 37 percent when figuring advance and mail ballot totals.

Kansas State Sen. Larry Alley, R-Winfield, cruised to an easy victory over Democrat Lawrence Moreno. Overall Alley, the incumbent, received 21,008 votes to 7,778 for Moreno.

In Cowley County, Alley received 9,103 votes to 3,871 for Moreno.

In State House Dist. 79, Rep. Webster Roth won reelection with a win over Democratic challenger Siobahn McIntyre. Roth received 4,376 votes to 1,897 for McIntyre.

Results are not final until vote canvassing can be conducted by Cowley County commissioners.

A Udall city sales tax question received 200 yes and 85 no votes. A Udall USD 463 library question received 540 yes to 369 no votes.

The Ark City library USD 470 question failed by a vote of 2,846 no votes to 2,487 yes.
