An Ark City Middle School custodian is no longer employed by the school district after it was discovered she had marijuana on school property, according to an email from USD 470 Tuesday.
Riley Gregory, 20, was arrested at 10:45 a.m. Tuesday after the Ark City Police Department was called to the the middle school for a report of possible drug possession, according to a press release from the ACPD.
Gregory was reportedly found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. She was cited and released.
School has been out for students in winter break since Dec. 16.
“Earlier today, an Arkansas City Middle School staff member was suspected of having marijuana on school property,” an email from the school district said. “The Arkansas City Police Department was notified immediately and the staff member was arrested and issued a citation.
“This individual is no longer employed by USD 470.”
The district said it has strict protocols regarding drugs.
“USD 470 has a zero-tolerance drug policy that applies to both students and employees,” the district said. “While we can not share many details regarding personnel matters, we wanted to be as transparent as possible about this. Thank you for understanding.”
