A Wichita man – with an active warrant issued by the U.S. Attorney General’s Office – was arrested last week following an incident at Creekstone Farms in Ark City.
28-year-old Ephesus Kago, 28, was booked into jail on charges of obstructing a law enforcement officer, possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He’s also being held on the federal warrant.
Bond for the Cowley County charges is set at $6,500.
On May 14, the Arkansas City Police Department responded to the report of a suspicious individual at Creekstone Farms Premium Beef, 604 Goff Industrial Park Road. Upon arrival, officers were approached by employees who indicated that a male suspect appeared to be under the influence of controlled substances.
Kago was exhibiting unusual behavior. During the investigation, officers discovered that he was in possession of illegal substances. When officers attempted to take him into custody, he resisted arrest.
Despite this resistance, officers successfully apprehended Kago and transported him to the Cowley County Jail.
Further investigation revealed that Kago had an active federal warrant for aggravated assault on a postal worker. He was arrested in March of this year and is accused of carjacking a postal vehicle and leading Wichita Police in a brief pursuit.
Neither Kago or Ark City officers were injured in the most recent incident.
