Storms overnight Tuesday brought exceptionally high winds across Cowley County.
According to Cowley County Emergency Management, the Ark City Police Department reported 50 mph winds. At Strother Field, wind gusts of 58 mph were reported.
Some damage was reported, including a downed tree south of Merle Snider Motors on Country Club Road. A telephone pole was reported on fire in the 1400 block of South H Street in Ark City.
For Wednesday and the rest of the week, temperatures in the triple digits are the topic of caution.
Cowley County Emergency Management urges the public to stay hydrated, be careful when outdoors and to plan accordingly.
