Water levels at the Winfield City Lake have improved over the last month.
“Although still below full pool, long term drought conditions have improved for the lake’s watershed area since mid-October 2023,” the City of Winfield said this week.
By early December, the lake level was 93 inches — or nearly 8 feet — below a full pool. The reading was the lowest below a full pool since 1992, but recent precipitation has benefitted the lake.
As of Monday, the lake registered 80.5 inches below full pool — an improvement of over a foot.
The last time the Winfield City Lake was at a full pool was July 2022.
Although levels have been low since, the City says there is still a significant supply of water for city residents and businesses.

“The City of Winfield addresses its short-term water shortage problems through a series of stages based on conditions of supply and demand with accompanying triggers, goals and actions,” The city said. “Each stage is more stringent in water use than the previous stage since water supply conditions are more deteriorated. The City Manager is authorized by ordinance to implement the appropriate conservation measures.”
