The Winfield Fire Department says a Sunday afternoon structure fire was arson.
According to Winfield Fire/EMS Sunday night, firefighters were dispatched just before 2:30 p.m. for a structure fire along with automatic aid partners ArkCity Fire/EMS, Udall Fire, and Burden Fire Departments.
Upon arrival, crews found heavy fire involvement on the north side of a vacant residential structure in the 400 block of Bliss Street. The majority of the fire was contained to a small two-story addition to the original one-story structure.
The fire was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes. Damage was contained primarily to the two story structure, with minor damage to a corner of the one story primary residence.
At the time of the fire, the residence was vacant with no active utilities. After completion of the scene investigation, the fire has been determined to have been intentionally set.
