The Winfield Fire Dept. is seeking information from the public as it investigates what is described as a “suspicious” fire that occurred Thursday morning.
Around 4:15 a.m., fire/ems crews were called to 316 E. Fifth Ave. lot 15A for the report of a structure fire. Flames were showing from the front of a single-wide mobile home.
Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze and searched to determine if anyone was inside. No one was found inside the structure, according to a written statement released on the fire dept.’s Facebook page. No injuries were reported.
The mobile home was vacant and had no utilities. Winfield Police are assisting in an investigation into the fire which has been deemed suspicious.
Ark City, Burden and Udall had fire crews assisting at the scene. Winfield Gas and Electric departments also responded.
