Winfield police are continuing to investigate an early morning shooting at an apartment complex.

Police Chief Robbie DeLong said investigators believe the shooting occurred indoors at Walnut Towers, 1201 Menor St. A 24-year-old man was transported to a Wichita hospital in serious condition.

An update on the victim’s condition has not been given, however, he was said to have stabilized.

“It is believed the suspect and victim knew each other,” DeLong said. “We also believe it was an isolated incident.”

Police were dispatched to the apartment complex around 4 a.m. Sunday. DeLong said additional information could be released as soon as Monday.

The shooting marks the second shooting in Winfield in less than a month. The first occurred in an alley in the 1000 block off Main Street. A person was injured and is recovering. An arrest warrant was recently issued for a suspect.
