A person was transported to the hospital in critical condition late Saturday following a shooting just off Main St. in Winfield, according to radio traffic from the scene.
Preliminary reports indicated a male victim was struck in the shoulder. The incident is said to have occurred in the alley behind The Bar at 1014 Main.
As of midnight, Winfield Police were at the scene and conducting a full investigation.
Cowley Post contacted The Bar via Facebook and was told “it all transpired outside the bar” and parties involved had not been in the bar, an owner said early Sunday. The suspected shooter was said to have been in a vehicle and the victim on foot.
Authorities across Cowley County were asked to be on the lookout for a white car potentially connected to the shooting. Ark City Police were actively assisting in a search for that vehicle.
