Winfield’s Lilli Sympson finished state runner up at the Class 4A girls golf tournament in Hesston. The tournament began Monday and concluded Tuesday.
Sympson shot a five-over-par 76 each day to finish with a total of 152. She was 10 strokes behind Addison Douglass of Wamego who posted scores of 70 and 72 for an even-par total of 142.
Last year, Sympson placed seventh at state. The tournament was played at the par-71 Hesston Golf Course.
Another area golfer, Taryn Viramontes, of Wellington, posted a top ten finish with an 83 the first day and a 77 Tuesday, for a two-day total of 160. She was sixth overall.
Viramontes led a Wellington squad that placed second overall as a team behind state champion Topeka Hayden.
