NEWKIRK — An elderly woman was injured Saturday morning when her vehicle crashed near the amphitheater on the Kay County Courthouse grounds.
Newkirk Fire Chief Adam Longcrier told Kay NewsCow the driver was taken to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita with abdominal and neck injuries.
Longcrier said it is unclear what caused the crash. He said the woman had been traveling east on Ninth Street when she lost control, jumped the curb and went through the limestone sign near the amphitheater.
Aside from tire marks on the stage, the amphitheater does not appear to be damaged, authorities said.
