The Legacy Regional Community Foundation is seeking nominations for its 2025 Spirit of Humanity Award, an annual recognition for individuals or groups who demonstrate uncommon leadership and action in Cowley and Sumner counties.

The award was created in 2016 during the foundation’s 20th anniversary celebration. Each year, the board of directors honors a community member, group or organization for embodying the mission of Legacy Foundation through philanthropy, civic leadership or volunteerism.

“The Spirit of Humanity Award recognizes people in our community for their generosity,” said Yazmin Wood, CEO of the foundation. “Philanthropic work, civic leadership and volunteerism truly inspire the vision of Legacy Foundation in action.”

Recipients are honored at a foundation reception, with their photo displayed in the foundation gallery and a commemorative inscription presented.

Candidates may be of any age but must live in or around the Cowley and Sumner County region. Actions must have taken place within the past 12 months and need not be financial. Civic groups, organizations and teams of individuals are also eligible.

Past honorees include Sid Regnier (2016), Tom and Mari Wallrabenstein (2017), Phil and Mary Jarvis (2018), Glen and Louise Stevenson (2019), Karen Zeller (2020), Bill and Belinda Mueller (2021), Wayne Hamilton (2022), Lynne Hunter (2023) and Carlla Pike (2024).

Nominations are due by 5 p.m. Sept. 8. Forms are available at www.legacyregionalfoundation.org, or by contacting the foundation at 620-221-7224 or [email protected].
