An assistant principal at Ark City High School has accepted an elementary school principal position in Colwich.
According to a news release from USD 470, Evan Burke submitted his resignation last week, but will remain in his current position for the remainder of
this school year.

“Mr. Burke started with the district in 2018 as a middle school science teacher,” the school district said. “He also helped coach football and track. Mr. Burke quickly proved himself a strong, inspirational leader. This year, he has been an integral part of the leadership team and we appreciate his focus on relationships, culture, and character development.
“We wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.”
In a message to ACHS staff and students, Burke said it will be hard to leave but as much as he has enjoyed being a Bulldog, the move is an opportunity for him, his wife, and their children to move closer to family.
“Bulldogs, I want to let you know that after careful consideration and a lot of prayer, I have decided to accept an elementary principal position in Colwich, KS,” Burke told staff and students. “It will be hard to leave but as much as I have loved being a Bulldog, this is an opportunity for us to move closer to family.
“I want to thank you for all of your support and encouragement this year. It has truly been an honor to serve you and I look forward to finishing the year off strong. Once a Bulldog, always a Bulldog.”
