Winfield Police Chief Robbie DeLong stopped by the KSOK studios last week and reminded listeners about the importance of traffic safety with the return of school, recapped how the WPD responded to the Aug. 5 storm that caused extensive wind damage and provided an update on the future police station slated to be added to the Public Safety Center.
DeLong said the design phase of the new PD is wrapping up and hopes the bidding process will get started before the end of the calendar year.
The entire facility, which includes the new fire/ems addition to the Winfield Fire Department, is funded through a 1-percent sales tax passed by Winfield voters in June 2019.
