Improvements at Lovie Watson Park in Ark City are underway as Spring approaches.
The City of Ark City released pictures of work at the park on its Facebook page Thursday. The City also posted the bathrooms at Paris Park have been rebuilt. The bathrooms were destroyed by a fire on during the early morning hours on New Year’s Day.
In November, the City of Ark City received a $50,00 grant form Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas via its Healthy Pathways initiative. The grant, awarded in collaboration with the City of Ark City, the Lovie Watson Park Task Force and the RISE Cowley Steering Committee, will be used to implement key improvements at the park, including installing new equipment and establishing a tobacco-free policy within the facility.
