Authorities investigating early morning New Year’s Day structure fire at Paris Park


Authorities in Ark City are investigating a structure fire at Paris Park during the early morning hours New Years Day.

According to a news release from the Ark City Fire/EMS Department Tuesday afternoon, crews responded to a reported structure fire at approximately 4 a.m. Monday at the Paris Park pavilion.

Upon arrival, firefighters were met with heavy flames engulfing the south end of the pavilion. Crews were able to contain the fire in the area, preventing further spread and minimizing potential damage.

Preliminary assessments indicate an estimated $10,000 in damages from the incident.

The Ark City Police Department was the first to arrive at the scene upon receiving the emergency call, the fire department said.

The investigation into the fire commenced promptly after it was extinguished, focusing on obtaining video footage and conducting interviews to gather essential information about the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
