A detached garage caught fire Tuesday night in Ark City and fireworks were deemed to be the cause, according to Ark City Fire/EMS.
In a news release from the fire department Thursday, Ark City Fire/EMS and the Winfield Fire/EMS responded to the 1100 block of North A Street at approximately 9:50 p.m. on July 4 for a reported structure fire.
On arrival, crews found a single-vehicle detached garage with heavy fire showing.
Crews had the fire under control within 20 minutes and remained on scene for an additional hour and a half, ensuring its complete extinguishment.
Damages are estimated at $60,000.
