One person is dead following a single vehicle accident south of Ark City Friday morning.
It occurred around 7 a.m. on 61st Road. A fatality was confirmed by authorities at the scene and another person was critically injured, according to radio traffic from the scene.
Few details were immediately available, but the vehicle appeared to leave the roadway, entered the east ditch and came to rest against a tree. Investigators were processing the scene and waiting for the Cowley County coroner to arrive.
The scene is approximately 1.5 miles south of where U.S. 77 and 61st meet at a Y.
