Ark City boys head basketball coach C.J. Jennings has been placed on administrative leave, according to the USD 470 school district.

They issued the following statement today in regard to questions about Jennings’ status:

“The administration at Arkansas City High School has received a report of inappropriate communication between a staff member and a student. Although this individual is technically employed by Winfield Public Schools, (he is) currently assigned to Ark City High School.

This individual also coaches for Arkansas City Public Schools. The Arkansas City Police Department was notified immediately, and both Winfield Public Schools and Ark City Public Schools have placed the employee on paid administrative leave, pending internal investigations. At this time there is no active police investigation but the ACPD is reviewing the matter.

We are working closely with Winfield Public Schools and the Special Education Services Cooperative and cannot share additional details at this time. Please be assured that we take these allegations very seriously and will provide updates when possible. We appreciate our school community’s support as we address this situation.”
