Two stolen vehicles recovered as ACPD continues to investigate rash of local thefts

Two vehicles were stolen and multiple others were burglarized in the early morning hours Sunday, Ark City Police confirmed Monday.

An investigation is ongoing and police are attempting to identify the suspect or suspects involved. The crimes were not limited to a single neighborhood and appear to have affected multiple portions of the city.

Both stolen vehicles have since been recovered in Ponca City, Okla. Seven motor vehicle burglaries were reported in addition to the stolen vehicles. A report of criminal trespass to a vehicle was also received.

Multiple vehicle owners have posted video to social media showing suspect activity. Among the items stolen was a firearm taken from one of the vehicles. 

Crimes appear to have occurred between 3:30 a.m. and 5:10 a.m. Sunday. Original reports were from the Crestwood area, though reports later in the day came from the 800 block of N. 9th, the 500 block of S. 2nd, 1500 block of N. 10th and 500 block of N. 2nd.

This remains an active and ongoing investigation, police said.. Detectives are currently conducting follow-up interviews.
