Continued searching in northeast Cowley County has yet to lead area authorities to missing Overland Park woman Jerry McConnell.

A dive team was at the search location Thursday rechecking bodies of water in what is a large search area. Sheriff David Falletti estimated “several hundred” search hours have gone into looking for the 81-year-old.

With the exception of a day or two for the Memorial Day holiday, a search of some fashion, usually with K-9 units, has gone on every day, he said. Personnel from multiple agencies have participated.

Lt. Det. Tommy Scott has spent considerable time at the scene. Falletti said beyond the dive work today, he’s not sure how much additional searching will go on.

A Silver Alert was issued earlier this month for McConnell who had been driving from a location in Missouri to her residence in Overland Park. The Cowley County Sheriff’s Office said McConnell’s vehicle plate had been detected travelling west on U.S. 160 at 327th Rd. in Cowley County on May 15.

Further information on her location had not been verified until her abandoned 2009 Honda Accord was found in Cowley County May 20.
