U.S. 160 will be closed to through traffic on the west side of Winfield beginning at 7 a.m. Monday, Oct. 6, for railroad crossing work, the Kansas Department of Transportation announced.
Traffic will detour north from Wellington on U.S. 81 to K-55, then east through Belle Plaine and Udall to U.S. 77 and south to Winfield. Signs will mark the route. These detailed detours are intended to provide a properly surfaced route for semi truck traffic.
The highway is expected to reopen by 5 p.m. the same day, weather permitting. Travelers can check kandrive.gov or call 511 for road conditions. Construction updates for south-central Kansas are available at ksdot.gov/southcentralnews.
