Accident on Saturday evening claims the life of a 21-year-old Rose Hill man

A 21-year-old Rose Hill man was killed Saturday evening in a single-vehicle crash west of Winfield Lake in rural Cowley County.

According to the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded at approximately 6:40 p.m. Saturday to the area of 82nd Road west of 131st Road.

A preliminary investigation determined that Kale Kochick, 21, of Rose Hill, was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado westbound on 82nd Road when the truck left the roadway and struck a creek embankment. Kochick was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Three passengers were also in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Authorities identified them as Brodyn Ford, 20, of Andover; Brennan Robledo, 22, of Rose Hill; and Page Corbyn, 17, of Solomon. Continue below ad.

Ford and Corbyn were transported by ambulance to Wesley Medical Center for treatment. Robledo was evaluated at the scene. The extent of their injuries was not immediately available.

Preliminary findings indicate alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash, according to the sheriff’s office.

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional information may be released as it becomes available.
