The Outstanding Student Award program was established by the City Commission and championed by E.W. “Bud” Shelton to highlight student achievement across the community.
Each year, teachers, staff and administrators nominate students, with a committee appointed by the mayor and City Commission selecting finalists after reviewing applications and conducting interviews.
“These students have already demonstrated the qualities of future leaders,” City Manager Randy Frazer said in a written statement. “Their hard work, character and service to others reflect the strong future ahead for Arkansas City.”
