Three-vehicle accident near Udall Wednesday sends several people to the hospital

Multiple people were hospitalized Wednesday evening as the result of a three-vehicle accident that occurred near Udall, according to a report from the Cowley County Sheriff’s Office.

Emergency crews were dispatched to the 2000 block of K-15 highway around 7:15 p.m. for the report of an injury accident.

A black Honda Accord, driven by 33-year-old Tyler D. Finney, of Ark City, was traveling north on K-15. A vehicle behind him, a silver 2010 Toyota 4-Runner driven by 24 year-old Ryan Fowler, of Winfield, attempted to pass Finney and was involved in a head on collision with a southbound vehicle.

That vehicle, a blue 2004 Chevy Tahoe, was driven by 41-year-old of Justin Bahner of Rock. Finney’s Accord was also struck during the accident.

Passengers in the Toyota 4-Runner were a three-year-old female and a five-year-old male. A passenger in the Honda Accord was 25-year-old Emily Finney.

All parties involved, according to information provided by Sheriff David Falletti, were transported to Wesley Medical Center in Wichita. One individual was transported by EagleMed air ambulance.

One Deputy was taken to William Newton Hospital due to smoke inhalation while removing the children from the 4-Runner. The medical condition of all parties is unknown at this time.

Other agencies assisting were Winfield Fire EMS, Udall Police Department, Udall Fire Department, Mulvane Fire Department and Butler County First Responders.

The Kansas Department of transportation assisted with traffic as both lanes were shut down for an extended amount of time.
