Cowley College outfielder Drake Fittro has been named a recipient of the 2026 ABCA/Rawlings NJCAA Division I Gold Glove Award, recognizing him as one of the top defensive players in junior college baseball.

The award, announced by the National Junior College Athletic Association and the American Baseball Coaches Association, honors the nation’s best defensive player at each position. Fittro was selected as one of three outfielders on the nine-player Gold Glove team.

Fittro turned in a flawless defensive season for the Tigers, recording a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. The sophomore finished with 105 putouts and two assists without committing an error in 107 total chances.

He was one of just four players nationwide selected to the Gold Glove team who completed the season without an error. All three outfielders chosen earned perfect fielding percentages, combining for 321 putouts and eight assists on 329 total chances. Continue below ad.

Fittro was joined on the Gold Glove team by Johnson County Community College third baseman Logan Groh, giving the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference two award recipients. NJCAA Region 6, which includes Kansas schools, was one of only two regions in the country to produce multiple Gold Glove winners this season, joining Region 8 in Florida.

The honor continues a strong run for the KJCCC, which has now produced multiple Gold Glove winners in each of the past four seasons. Conference players have earned at least one Gold Glove award in six consecutive seasons and in nine of the last 10 years the awards have been presented.

For Cowley, Fittro’s selection adds another national accolade to a program that has consistently produced standout performers both at the plate and in the field.
